It all started in 3rd grade. I created one of the largest bracelet-selling operations my elementary school's playground had ever seen. I'll never forget the day my teacher shut it down after I had amassed a full $62.25 in my little mermaid cash box. I've always loved business, but more importantly, I've always loved the way someone's face lights up when they receive a quality product.
Seven years ago, I heard Andy Stanley talking about business. He said the best leaders are committed to one core value: "do for one what you wish you could do for everyone." Ever since, I've lived by that motto, especially when it comes to gift giving, business, and relationships.
I left behind all my fear and doubts to build a business I believe matters. At Blasem, we don't want you to be scared of sending the wrong gift. Our goal is to help show the world there isn't ever really a wrong gift, when it's a gift from the heart.
The world told me I wasn't ready to start a business. I'm young. I'm a woman. I have a full time job. But I refuse to believe we aren't ready to leave the world better than we found it and that's exactly what my role at Blasem Box enables me to do.
Blasem is a woman-owned, local gift box company headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We believe in supporting other women-owned businesses and keeping it local. Because of this, at least 75% of the items in every Blasem Box are sourced from companies that fit that mission statement.
When I started Blasem, I was walking through a season of intense grief when a package arrived at my door. After spending hours on the phone with consulates and NGOs overseas, wondering if I'd ever see one of my closest family members make it home safely, I felt entirely defeated. I opened that little gift and wept as I clung to the box's contents. It was the first time in days I sincerely believed there might be hope. Sometimes, all we need is a little gesture to remind us we're loved.
Partner that experience with having also worked as a sales representative who scoured local boutiques finding high quality client gifts, I realized I could build a solution to this need for intentional gifting. What do you get someone going through chemo? Or someone who just lost a loved one? How do you say thank you to a client who means the world to you? Our Blasem team curates gifts we are proud of and saves you the hours of driving and deliberating in aisles.
Every box is accompanied by a handwritten note, because let's face it - whether you're in the South or the Midwest, personal touch matters. I couldn't bare to see the look on my sweet tea drinking mom's face if she knew I was sending gifts without cards.
